Chai-coffee? Coffee! ❤️ – I just read somewhere that there are 25 major types of coffee beans. I also read somewhere that cafe mocha, my favourite has 460 cal/g. And I’d skipped the gym today.
But then it hit me that coffee beans are seeds of berries of a plant! What? SEEDS! BERRIES! PLANTS!
So coffee is salad! No? Coffee is a saviour. It’s the foundation of the food pyramid. It’s a hug in a mug!
With the various cafes & coffee shops around, it seems interesting to explore the coffee culture here. But let’s know our coffee before going there.
Coffee is a beverage made by brewing roasted ground coffee beans by a slow drip or filter, French press, percolator or a faster Espresso/Gaggia machine, or the vapour pressure of a vacuum maker. Its origin is African, Madagascar, Mauritian and European. Also, the coffee there is a whole next level. The streets smell of coffee.
Don’t you love your morning coffee? Research says it should not be taken in the morning since it causes a release of hydrochloric acid in the digestive system. It has many health benefits- like antioxidants, improves metabolism, cognitive functions, it is also good for type 2 diabetic patients, patients with liver diseases.
7 MAJOR TYPES OF COFFEE: Coffee menu simplified! (source of this picture-internet)
1. Espresso(black)- Made in a cappuccino machine, it has espresso, steamed milk and foam with varying proportions. 2 shots in one cup is a doppio . An espresso based drink with milk added is a flat white.
2. Macchiato- Espresso with some steamed milk And foam onto the top. It’s perfect when you spin the cup right after you make it!
3. Americano-A cup of hot water with espresso extracted over it. Water seeps through the coffee, absorbing its oil, flavors and essences!
4.Cafe latte- A much sweeter variant, it is an espresso based coffee with steamed milk and foam.
5. Cappuccino- Chocolate sprinkled on the top of a latte.
6.Mocha- A mix of a cappuccino and a hot chocolate.
7-Irish coffee- Irish coffee is a cold coffee with Irish whiskey and whipped cream. It’s more like a loving beverage though! Combinations of coffee with tea, liquor & other numerous ingredients is an interesting topic out of the scope of this post. Maybe I’ll cover it sometime later for you!
I love experimenting with these trying to make for myself and enjoy drinking my own coffee in bliss. And while brewing might not always be a go-to, instant coffee works pretty much the same with the same amount of health benefits and antioxidants as regular coffee, less caffeine! Talking about caffeine, and its anti-health properties due to which decaffeinated coffee or decaf grew largely lately can be done too! A basic frapacino also works wonders as well.
This post suggests that coffee is a language in itself, knowing it a science. And brewing the coffee an art! And every art is an experience! Please feel free to share yours in the comment section below. I’d really like to know.
